Details

The Indiana Fever is a professional basketball team competing in the WNBA. They are based in Indianapolis, Indiana, and are known for their star players like Caitlyn Clark and Aliyah Boston.

The goal of this project was to update Indiana Fever's logo and branding to make it relate to its history.

Indiana Fever’s name is based on Indiana's "fever" for basketball. Compared to other major teams in the state, there are also the Pacers and the Colts. These teams’ names relate to Indiana’s history with horses and harness racing.

Indiana Fever’s current logo looks vintage with the script font and swoosh underneath it. The Fever’s logo differs from that of the Pacers, which can be seen in some teams from the WNBA and NBA. However, some teams like the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynxes share a similar logo with the color scheme and layout (the biggest difference being the animals). An option could be to recreate the logo of the Fever to be similar to the Pacers. However, the logo would try to tie in a bit more of the state’s history compared to the current Fever logo.

After researching the Indiana Fever, I believe a new fitting name would be the Indiana Trotters. Including the horseshoe is fitting for the team considering its rich history with horses. The colors are the same as the Indiana Pacers. This is meant to show the relation between them as they are both from Indiana, but also to show they are different teams.

The mockups I provided are a basketball court, jerseys, a social media post, and a digital board ad.
